Wedding photography is not what it use to be! Back in the day the “wedding photographer” was hired to show up with their film camera and capture the day as it unfolded, send the film off to the lab and wait for the proofs to come back! Now a days as a professional photographer, we find ourselves taking on so much more!  DeEtte and I talk about how someone should do a reality show on a wedding photography studio to show the world that we are not just weekend warriors that sit around all week and the work on an occasional Saturday!  If fact we work EVERYDAY of the week just trying to keep up with that back end of the shooting!  We not only photograph the wedding but also the bridal session, the engagement session and as of 5 years ago, the boudoir (French for “from the bedroom”) sessions! on top of all of that added work flow, now our cameras can capture high definition video and we can incorporate short clips with our still images and make a slide show to better showcase what we do! Some photographers may find this overwhelming and refuse to accept change! We at Sallee Photography say BRING IT ON! We LOVE that our industry is changing everyday and rest assure that we are ALWAYS on top of our game and working diligently to not only keep up with the times but also lead the way and set our own paths! This is a new path for us and maybe our industry as well! Here is our first boudoir “Art Show” incorporating video clips from our brides boudoir session at the wonderful boutique style hotel The Wildwood Inn. We think it came out very nice and Marissa’s groom is sure to cherish this sexy little “Art Show” forever! Since this was our first attempt we asked the bride what she thought about the experience and here is what she had to say…

“Boudoir Thoughts” by our bride, Marissa:

“I think it’s normal to feel nervous about walking out in your lingerie in front of a camera for the first time. Initially, I was’t even sure that I wanted to do a boudoir shoot but I’m so glad I decided to go for it because I could’t be happier with my experience with Sallee Photography! As soon as Jb and DeEtte arrived on location, my tension immediately went away. They create this wonderful, easy-going atmosphere that makes you so comfortable, giving you the privacy you need but keeping it light and relaxed. They turn on music and make sure you have fun instead of making the experience awkward, which helps any insecurities melt away. The best thing about the shoot was how much fun we had! We found ourselves laughing together, especially when we were taking pictures in the bathtub and bubbles were flying all over the place. It’s so difficult to pick a favorite shot because there were so many incredible ones but my most memorable shot was probably the one in the bubble bath where I’m facing away from the camera with my arms out to the sides. It was completely unintentional on my part because I was’t even posing but they look for those unique little moments and turn them into something beautiful! Their style is so classy, which is exactly what I was looking for. Before the engagement, I had already decided that I wanted Sallee Photography to shoot my wedding, bridal, engagement and boudoir sessions. They don’t just take the typical, cheesy wedding snap-shots; they capture the art and beauty in everything – the surroundings, the people, the details, and even the feel of the moment. It brings those special memories back to life and makes them so much more special! I can’t wait to see the magic they work for my wedding.”

Silvia + Jay

Movies…movies…and more movies!
When we asked this ultra adorable couple a few questions to get to know them better every answer somehow surrounded a movie theme…so of course we had to do an engagement session that reflected their fav passion!  I think the word–FUN would describe this engagement session.  We started at the amazing theater in downtown Dallas, The Majestic Theater.  With a few well thought out outfits (ATTN: GROOMS–take note of the fun things Jay is wearing ;) ) and props and a couple with so much natural chemistry there was no way we could get anything but great shots!
After shooting around the Majestic Theater and playing with some yummy colored popcorn we made a walk around downtown Dallas.  Jay and Silvia brought some retro movie posters that we pinned up on a wall to make a custom backdrop for some of the last shots we did.
Jay and Silvia mentioned that they hired Sallee Photography  because as they put it,
“We saw the photographs and knew you guys fit our style. We saw how creative you guys were. We do not want old school pictures. We want to  have fun with our pictures and not just look at the camera and smile.”

I think this session definitely nailed that one!

To Jay and Silvia–We can not wait for the wedding and to have Silvia smile and laugh with that contagious grin.  You can truly see the love between you!
